We know that wordpress is the most popular blogging platform these days. But now just a blogging system it is being used as a highly customizable CMS on many different sites. The best thing about it is the ease of use. Also its template structure is very fast and php friendly.

For a very long time we have analyzed and gone though the age of wordpress premium themes. Some costs more and some cost less.

The Problem with Premium Themes and theme clubs

Although the premium themes are very beautiful and graphically optimized but there is a bad thing about premium themes. These themes are not delivered to you as a unique copy. If you purchase a theme at $70, you are not the only one. A lot of other people will have a same copy of theme. Thats the main problem with theme clubs as well.

Wordpress premium Theme builder

We know about many different wordpress theme generators like artisteer and yvoschaap’s theme generators but both of these generators does not give you any flexibility. You can just change the color schemes that’s it. WPThemeBuilder is the first product you’ll see that can give you 100% flexibility over your themes. You can not only stylized your themes but can also configure your themes as well as the back-end wp-admin panel without touching a single line of code. Even a newbie can now turn wordpress into a CMS.

Lets see what WPThemeBuilder.com can do for you

Ability to do all the things normal theme builders does (i.e styling , coloring)

Built-in web 2.0 graphics and an option to upload your own graphics for every possible element (from background to heading and list styles) best option for graphic designers who don’t want to stick with coding.

You can also configure your theme to be either one column, two column or more than 2 column themes

Add as many widgetized sidebars as you want.

Customize the post content section (where the content of your posts displays) with content widgets such as social bookmarking, post star ratings, related posts etc. The relevant plugins are automatically added to your theme folders. You can also drag and sort the widgets to suite your desired locations.

One of the Best Option : Nobody else doing this but WPThemeBuilder does. You can now customize your home page with very highly flexible widgets and give your home page a different look than all other blog pages. Isn’t that cool?

The Home Page Widgets: This is the best option that turns your wordpress into a powerful CMS. You can add editable text widgets, content sliders (jQuer powered), photoblogging widgets for photography lovers, magazine layout widgets for multi-column post displaying, tabbed content widgets and much much more.

Navigation Menus: Another cool option, you can add as many drop down and top level menus as you want. These can be paged menus, categories menu and even configurable menus from WP-Admin, so the navigation will be in your own hand from WP-Admin

Archive Layout Styles: Wow, another cool option, now get ride of normal blogging look and set the archive layout in many different styles. One column , multi column with or without image thumbnails, photo galleries and many other archiving styles.

Pagination in your hand: No need to style up your pagination list as WPThemeBuilder have a pre-define list of pagination styles that can suite your themes

Rounded Corners: turn the main layout elements to be rounded corners to give a nice web 2.0 look to your themes

and many many more options. Another feature is that its online and you can also share your own ideas you want to see in this tool.

What about Administration of Themes?

Well , wPThemeBuilder handles everything itself. Many editable widgets will come with an admin panel for their configuration. These are located in Theme options page and only be built for those widgets you added in WPThemeBuilder. Visit WPThemeBuilder now

What else is remaining?

Well it looks like the Theme clubs age is going to be over as well as the theme frameworks. As this tool does all for you.

Did I told you its very cheap?

Yes, WPThemeBuilder can generate premium WP themes as low as $3 per theme. Their are different set of subscription plans you can take a look at their website for more details

With the upcoming days wordpress is becoming more popular than just a blogging system. Developers and designers are creating their themes more likely to be used as a pure CMS.

Featured post slideshow or slider is one of the primary element of a premium wordpress theme. Slideshows can be built very easily but turning them into wordpress plugin and giving them an interface is not an easy job for all developers specially designers who always wanted to keep themselves away from coding.

Featured Content Slider Plugin

Featured Content Gallery is a plugin for wordpress which lets you to pick a few posts from a specific category or via post IDs and then display them in a slideshow. The slideshow is very cool which displays an image in background and description of post in a fading gray box in bottom of this widget. Problem with featured content gallery is that you always need to have an image in your post to display this slideshow properly.

The plugin is very easy to use, setup and then configuration is also very easy. All you need is to create a category called Featured. This is not necessary, you can also choose post ID’s which will be then displayed in a slideshow view.

Download Wordpress Featured Content Slider Plugin

Today I was making a bunch of different animated features on a blog. The job was to make a photo blog and to add different widgets like gallery, tabbed widget, carousel widget. The problem was that it have to be done all with one jquery plugin. In past i had to use different jquery plugins for different purposes. jCarosuel lite is perfect for carousel feature, jQuery UI for tabbed navigation and any good jquery gallery plugin.

But today i found a wonderful jQuery plugin called Scrollable. Now I can build any of above widgets with just this tiny plugin. And it also have a very good API so any one can build any type of scrolling widget.

For example you can see this can be used for a news scrolling widget(can be viewed on scrollable home page) with previous next buttons too. It have an API , you can simply use the parameters and disable/enable anything.

By default it uses two elements with prev,next class to use as navigation buttons. Or if you have enabled the navibar, it will create a numeric navigation bar to control your scrolling area.

You can also create your own navigation numeric bar or a tabbed navigation. Just tell the plugin what class is used with your navigation element and it will pick that up.

Anything can be scrolled. Any valid HTML element like DIV’s , Ordered or un-ordered list items etc.

Download the Plugin and view the API documentation for more details.

Web graphics are essential part of a web design strategy. Good graphics always attract visitors and sometimes people who can be your next client if you are a web designer of your own site.

WordPress is a state-of-the-art publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability. WordPress is both free and priceless at the same time.

And that is because wordpress definitely provided almost everything for FREE. A lots of FREE themes you can download from Wordpress Themes cataloge, a lot of plugins from Wordpress Plugins directory and best of all is the support. You can mostly find your answers from wordpress support site but even if did not find any answer then google is always with you as millions of wordpress users are also wordpress helpers for newbies. Anyways I have sorted out a short list of best wordpress killer plugins which a blogger must have when using wordpress.

jQuery is an amazing and very helpful javascript library that I always use in my web projects. Beauty of jQuery is its plugins which are available in a large number and free. jQuery makes the javascript work 70 times faster and easier. Sometimes when you have to let people or yourself add web color codes in text field or in order to change colors of fonts, backgrounds etc in real time then a Color Picker is a big help.

jQuery may have many color picker plugins. Some are very simple while some are very complex and useful. Below is a short list of jQuery best color pickers plugins.

1. EyeCon’s jQuery Color Picker

As you can see from above screenshot this is very handy color picker plugin with a sexy black look and controls. It is very easy to implement and you can assign its hex color return value to any input field or any DOM element. It can change the colors in real time or after you pressing the color button in control. You can downoad EyeCon’s jQuery color picker plugin from here.

2. Farbtastic jQuery Color Picker Plugin

This is my 2nd favorite color picker plugin for jQuery. It is a color wheel unlike the above plugin but it does the same job as eyecon’s picker plugin does. Download this Color Picker.

3. Another Simple Color Picker

This one is another similar to EyeCon’s color picker but it is simpler and have no sexy black look. Simple controls but it does the job well. There is only one little problem that you always have to click OK button to close this pop up picker. View Details and Download.

4. jQuery Color Picker (Pre-defined color boxes)

This color picker have a pre-defined number of color boxes. You can choose any color from them and it will set the value of target element to the selected hex color value. Download & Details.

A design is not completed if it does not have colors blended according to its overall structure.

Ajax is a combination of javascript and xml technologies. There can be many things we can perform with ajax from simpler form validation to complex user interface design. For all these, we need to have javascript, xml and some of back end programming language knowledge. Ajax is mostly used to perform actions without loading a page. But if you are doing a very complex series of actions using ajax then you might be considering to do that in easy way and to reduce the overall page size. Everybody knows, complex ajax commands needs a lot of javascript code to update the controls on a page. More javascript lines = more page size.

Yesterday i was developing a wordpress plugin with ajax then i found an easy way to perform all ajax and javascript commands directly from my php source file. Here is how easily it can be done.

1. Use jQuery for ajax Events

I have used jQuery because of its powerful ajax core function and it is very easy to implement. You never need to define any xmlhttp object. jQuery does that all for you. Here is a tutorial that explains how to perform ajax actions with jQuery.

2. download jQuery Taconite Plugin

Teconite Plugin is very easily to use. You don’t have to write any code for this plugin. Just include it in header file after jQuery and it will perform its internal events automatically whenever you will make any ajax action. (get , post etc). Teconite plugin will be used to perform DOM update events directly from our backend php source script. Download Plugin and include it in your header file.

3. Create a DOM element to be updated via PHP

Now you have to define some html element so we can update it via php. You can also create this element dynamically from backend script but lets just create it.

<p id="update_me"></p>

<input type="button" id="call_ajax" value="Update" />

4. Define an event for the button

Put this in your header script

$(document).ready(function(){
   $("#call_ajax").click(function(){
    $.ajax({ type : 'post', url : 'script.php' , data { newValue : 'This value will be added to P Tag'} });
            });
   });
});

5. The Back end handler script.php

<?php
header("Content-type : text/xml"); ?>
?>

6. Write Taconite Code to Update DOM element

<?php
header("Content-type : text/xml"); ?>
<taconite>
  <append select="update_me">
      <?php echo $_POST['newValue'];  ?>
  </append>
</taconite>

A little Explanation

PHP must be set to return xml headers. So whatever we put in taconite it will be executed in client side. we can also perform javascript events using <eval> and </eval> tags. You can update any DOM element with javascript or other taconite commands. More information here.
